Do I have to have my ID to check out a book?
You may check out a book by either entering your ID number on a keypad or by scanning your ID card. Scanning an ID card will absolutely ensure that no mistakes are made. If you've lost your ID, we will gladly replace it for $5.00 in the Media Center.
For how long are books checked out?
Most books can be kept for up to three weeks with one three-week renewal possible. Reference materials are generally overnight only, but some don't circulate at all. NEW Troybery books titles check out for eight days only. Magazines check out for eight days, and they must be checked out by the media staff.
Can I reserve books?
Yes! Log in to the Destiny Card Catalog using your school username and password. Click on the Catalog button and search for the book you want to read. If the book is checked out, place a hold by clicking on the title, and then click "Hold" in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Is there a overdue charge for late books?
We charge 10 cents a day per book! Check those DUE DATE stamps on the back of the book!
How many books may I check out at a time?
Students may check out up to four books at a time.
May I use the media center before school?
The Larson Media Center opens early on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 7:30 AM for students who obtain a Media Pass in the cafeteria. However, students must stay in the media center until the 7:45 A.M. bell rings. The media center opens at 7:45 A.M. on Tuesday mornings.
May I use the computers in the media center?
Computers are available for independent educational uses. You must log onto the computers with your username and password to use them. You may check your e-mail during non-class times. Students are allowed to print out school assignments and any school related work (up to $3.00 worth per month).
May I print from computers in the media center?
Black and white and color printing are allowed. However, print quotas have been reinstated for students using computers in the Troy School District. At the beginning of every month, every student is given a $7.50 quota for printing (there is no rollover). Monochrome (black and white) print jobs will be charged to your account at a rate of 5 cents per page. Anything sent to the color printer (even if it is black and white or a blank page) will be charged at the rate of 20 cents per page. If you use up your print quota before the end of the month, you will not be able to print at school until the beginning of the next month.
